A few nights after opening the two Dehlinger Bordeaux variety wines for us, Allan Bree followed that up with an 11 year-old Pinot Noir. We have much more experience with these, so in a way, it was like welcoming an old friend back in our glasses, even if we hadn’t had this particular vintage. We’ve never had a Dehlinger that we didn’t like, and this was certainly not the one to ruin that track record.

1999 Dehlinger Russian River Valley Pinot Noir Estate, 14.8% alc.: Clean dark color, darker than many Pinots, with classic Dehlinger character, offering flavors and aromas of rich plum and black cherry shaded with cola nut overtones, all on a discreet earthy bed. Medium-full to full bodied, and still powerful, expresive, well structured and yet to reach its peak. An absolutely lovely wine that Bree pegged when he remarked, “The wine screams Russian River Valley.” Find this wine
