Merlot, Lambrusco and Chianti (what's Chianti?) have suffered very similar fates and make-overs: Abused and altered for mass-appeal and profit purposes until they became the laughingstock of the wine world. Finally, Merlot and Lambrusco are getting ready for their well-deserved come-backs in their true, original styles, flavors and tastes. Chianti still needs to get its act together but it too will shine again in the very near future… as soon as the term "Super Tuscan" gets buried six feet under.
